Who we are
Renderkiln (“the app”) is developed and published by Pat Lee Media, LLC, doing business as pixeLantern (“we,” “us,” “our”). This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. It applies to the Renderkiln macOS application and this website, renderkiln.pixelantern.com.
What we collect
Renderkiln does not sell or share your personal information, and it never collects your content. The app requires no account, contains no advertising or behavioral-tracking SDKs, and does not build a marketing profile of you. The single exception is optional, anonymous crash and performance diagnostics, described below. In short, the app:
- does not require an account, sign-in, or registration;
- contains no advertising or behavioral-tracking SDKs;
- does not sell, share, or use your data for marketing;
- never transmits your animations, rendered video, file names, or file contents.
Your animations and rendered video
The HTML animations you open and the video files you render are processed entirely on your Mac and stored only where you choose to save them. Renderkiln never uploads, transmits, sees, or retains your content, and it is excluded from diagnostics as well. This is a core design decision, not a setting.
To be precise about what that promise covers: the app sends none of your content anywhere. Once a rendered file is saved to your Mac, what happens to it is up to you — and if you use iCloud Drive, Time Machine, or another backup or sync service, your own system may copy that file according to your settings, not ours. That’s true of any file on your computer; we note it only so the claim is exact: Renderkiln uploads nothing, and your backup and sync choices remain entirely yours.
Crash and performance diagnostics
To find and fix bugs and keep rendering fast, Renderkiln may use a third-party crash- and performance-monitoring service (such as Sentry). When enabled, it records technical information when something crashes or runs slowly: a crash stack trace, performance timings, your device model and macOS version, and the app version. We configure it to minimize what’s collected — it is not used for advertising, is never sold, and is not used to profile you.
It never includes your content. Your animations, your rendered video, file names, and file contents are never part of a diagnostic report. Diagnostics describe the app’s health, not your work, and are not linked to your identity.
You can opt out. Renderkiln provides an in-app setting to turn diagnostics off entirely. Separately, Apple’s own system-level crash sharing is governed by System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
On-device processing — the key distinction
This is the difference that matters. A cloud or web converter works by uploading your animation to a remote server, rendering it there, and sending a file back — your work sits on someone else’s machine to get the job done. Renderkiln works the opposite way: all rendering and encoding happens locally, on your own Mac, using macOS’s built-in frameworks. There is no server-side processing and no cloud step in the pipeline, so your animation is never handed to a third party to be processed.
Network access
Renderkiln does not need a network connection to render. A few ordinary exceptions are worth naming plainly:
- Content you provide. If an animation you open references remote resources (for example, a web font or an image hosted online), the system may load those resources so the animation renders the way its creator built it. That network activity is controlled by your content, not by us, and the resulting file is still written only to your Mac.
- Diagnostics. If diagnostics are enabled, anonymous crash and performance reports are sent to our monitoring provider, as described above. This never includes your content, and you can turn it off.
- App distribution and updates. If you install the app through the Mac App Store or TestFlight, Apple handles delivery, purchase, and updates under Apple’s Privacy Policy. We do not receive personal information from that process.
This website
This marketing site is static and does not set advertising or tracking cookies. If we ever add privacy-respecting, aggregate visit measurement, we will update this policy first and keep it anonymous.
Children’s privacy
Renderkiln is a professional creative tool intended for general audiences. It collects no information from anyone, including children, and is not directed at children under 13.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal data a company holds about you. Because the app uses no account and builds no marketing profile, we typically hold no information that identifies you — and any diagnostics we receive are anonymous and not linked to you. You remain in full control of the files on your own device. If you believe we hold any personal data about you, contact us using the address below and we’ll address it.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s data practices ever change, we will update this page and revise the effective date above before the change takes effect. Material changes will be noted here.
